Everything Happens for a Reason in Life

Got low grades in college exams despite your efforts? Had a breakup recently? Lost a loved one? Suffering from constant failures? Couldn’t achieve your life targets or objectives? You are so damn worried about all this nonsense happening to you, right? You have to stop worrying. I give you my words that in this world everything happens for a good reason.

Yes, quite honestly, everything that happens to you in life; no matter what it is, or how good or bad it is; happens for a reason. Your life is exactly going on according to how God has planned it for you. So, you need to stop mentally stressing yourself out about all the failures and dejections that you are facing. You need to start learning from your past and present experiences.

You might be persistently troubled by your present. Similarly, you might be unable to see any exit from your problems; or you might be a symbol of failure today; hang on, there is great success ahead for you. Your current stream of events is preparing you for a better future.

“Realize that if a door is closed, it’s because what was behind it wasn’t meant for you.”

Mandy Hale

All your problems, troubles, and failures carry meaning for you, for us, and for everyone’s life. It is how nature works. Although we can’t understand this, we have to believe that all this has a reason for us.

With our limited insight and vision, we cannot understand what good our current failures/tragedies would bring in the future. But with hindsight, once you will be where nature wants you to go; you will be thankful for all the failures, and problems that life had given you in the past.

But, why should you believe my words? Don’t believe me. Go and study the lives of successful people. All the successes were once failures. And those failures happened to them for good reasons. Well, we will study those examples later here.

Before that, let us scrutinize the quote, “Everything happens for a reason.”

This quote is primarily associated with Marilyn Monroe, as she said,

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

Marilyn Monroe

If we read the life stories of all the successful people; all we will learn about will be their tragic past, their failures, and their dejections throughout life that has actually made them what they are today.

Examples of things that happened for a reason in the lives of successful people

We will start with Jack Ma, the richest person in China, and the founder of a famous e-commerce store/website Ali Baba; who had faced many failures in life.

For every job he applied for, he got rejected. But, those rejections happened for a reason. Can you see what those rejections did to Jack Ma? They made him what he is today. See how it worked.

He was not born to be a person with an average social status. In other words, average jobs were not for him. So, there was a clear reason why he faced failure after failure in life. He had to become a legend. He had to see success. If he had got any of those jobs he applied for, today he would have been an average person.

Despite the failures, he continued to strive. He made his own way by taking initiative by founding Ali Baba. Today he is an example for all of us.

Go and ask Jack Ma how he feels now about all the failures and rejections he had faced in his past life. He would obviously be thankful to God.

Similar is the case with all the other successful people in the world. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg had dropped out of Harvard.

For people like us with limited vision, dropping out of Harvard is a great failure. However, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg knew that their dropping out of Harvard carried a meaning. For them, it happened for a reason. And that reason was; that they had to emerge as tycoons who would hire Harvard graduates later in life.

See how it works!

We can take infinite examples from the lives of successful people. I hope these examples are enough to deliver the meaning.

Ultimate Benefits of the Belief that Everything Happens for a Reason

When we accept this belief that whatever is happening to us, to our lives, is for our own benefit in the long run; it will have multiple positive impacts on our lives. We would become livelier, more cheerful, more optimistic, and more energetic.

Following are some of the great advantages of this belief.

1. No more giving up on Failures

This is something that is most needed. More than 90 percent easily give up when they face failures in life. We must have a belief that the failures we face are small steps to success. Nothing that we experience in life is meaningless. Similarly, our failures happen for a reason and that reason is always to make us a better person.

2. No more Depression

Today, depression is one of the most common mental illnesses in the world. Our circumstances usually make us depressed. Being unable to achieve what we want pushes us to depression.

However, if someone has this belief that his present circumstances, his struggles, and his sufferings carry meaning for him, he wouldn’t feel depressed.

3. Infinite Patience

This belief would make us patient during adverse moments of life. We would not panic during failures and rejections, rather we would be patient and optimistic about a better future.

4. More optimism in Life

Without a doubt, this belief will make us more optimistic. We would be able to see the silver lining in the dark cloud. With this belief, we would be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Moreover, we will bid adieu to all the doubts, and misgivings related to our life for good.

5. One becomes more Hardworking & Persistent

We try, and we fail. We give another attempt, we see another failure. Mostly, we give up. But, with the belief that these failures are happening for a reason; i.e. to teach us some lessons, to make us more strong, to develop persistence in us, we would never give up on it.

Jack Ma was persistent. He didn’t quit trying. Every time he failed, he tried something new. He knew his failures are meaningful.

Ultimately, his persistence transformed him into Jack Ma whom we know today.

6. Accepting or Letting Someone Go Openheartedly

People come and go in life. It happens to everyone. If someone is coming into your life, it is to teach you a lesson. Similarly, if someone is going from your life, it is also because nature wants to teach you something.

If someone is leaving you, it might be because he/she is giving a place to someone better who is coming into your life. Nature is full of surprises. One door closes and multiple others open for us. One person leaves and better people join us.

So, with the belief that every single thing happens to us for a reason; we become better in our relationships. We become more receptive to the lessons we would get to learn from these experiences.

(On a lighter note: No more heartbreaks!!)

Bottom Line

Our life is so meaningful. It is a great blessing indeed. We have only got one life. We are here for a limited amount of time. So, how is it possible that our experiences here can be meaningless? Why would nature place us in a situation that wouldn’t impact us positively in some way? Can anyone quote a single example where struggles have gone unrewarded? Can you name any successful person without prior failures?

All the failures, bitter experiences, heartbreaks, rejections, etc. happen to teach us lessons. Every single moment in life carries a reason. Every experience happens for a reason. Nothing is meaningless.

Have this belief and be patient for the future surprises that nature has hidden for you!
