‘Four Power Hours’ Formula | A Key to Success

One common attribute or superhuman quality in all successful people is, ‘they have laser-like focus’. And those who lack it can never be successful. So, in order to be successful, one has to kill distractions and stay focused on work. If you are finding it hard to maintain focus; this is where the ‘Four Power Hours’ formula will come to your rescue.

Why Four Power Hours Formula is Important

Everyone wants success. But, nobody wants to work. Even if we start doing our work, we easily get distracted in-between. Either our cellphone starts ringing, or the social media notification pops up. In any case, we start procrastinating on our work.

Whether you are a student working on an assignment; or an employee making a presentation; a freelancer struggling to meet deadline; or a blogger who needs to publish a blog post; or a Youtuber with a video idea awaiting execution; you won’t be able to complete the task unless you are totally focused on it.

Lacking focus is normal, rather common. Calling it a psychological problem won’t be misleading. Like every other problem, this too needs some solution. And yes, we have a solution in the form of a ‘four power hours’ exercise.

Understanding the ‘Four Power Hours’ formula

Charles Darwin, known for his contributions to the science of evolution, has written 19 books. Now, you must be thinking he had no social life; and that all the time, he stayed in his study thinking and writing books.

You would be amazed to know that he used to work only for 1 and half hours every day; i.e. from 8 a.m to 9:30 a.m. However, during this short time, he locked himself in his study and focused all his attention on work. He used to spend the rest of the day relaxing and chilling.

Similarly, we have Henri Poincaré, a French mathematician, who has published 30 books and 500 papers in his life on various subjects e.g. Astronomy, Physics, Philosophy, etc. Throughout his life, he used to work 4 hours a day.

In short, almost all successful people follow the same principle. Working for fixed hours with every distraction kept at bay; and enjoying the rest of the day in other activities.

We have been spoonfed the idea that working hard for daily long hours leads to massive success. However, if we look at the working schedule of the most admired figures from the past; we learn that resting and relaxing are also as much or more important.

So, the point is, focused and dedicated work of four hours worth 24 hours. And that is how everyone should spend the day. If you are the one working for 18 or 20 hours a day but your day still remains unproductive; you truly need to follow the ‘four power hours’ approach.

How to Apply this Approach in Life

The power hours technique will help you improve your focus and enhance productivity.

For that, take any fixed four hours out of 24 hours daily. In those 4 hours, turn your phone off; keep every distraction aside; cut off from your family and friends; lock yourself in your working space and start working.

During this time, you will have an overwhelming urge to check your social media accounts; open YouTube; play some sort of video game, or call/text a friend – pay no heed to these distractions. You just have to keep doing your work.

Repeat this process daily if you really and honestly want to make a positive impact on your life, and improve your daily productivity.

As it is a fact that an activity regularly repeated becomes a habit. So, your regular and focused work will become your new normal habit.

So, pick four hours in the morning, as your mind is fresh during this time – apply the formula – see the results!

Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus. – Alexander Graham Bell
